About Academic Intelligence

Targeted technology solutions for Canadian higher education.

    Our Foundation

Academic Intelligence bridges public-sector experience with battle-tested technical expertise:

    • Decades of Direct Service in Education: Deep understanding of the governance, operations, and pedagogical aspects of education grounded in more than two decades of leadership across higher education, government, and K-12.
    • Enterprise-Scale Systems Engineering: Architectural expertise forged in more than a decade of mission-critical software design, including a custom order management platform designed to handle billions in annual sales with extreme seasonal demand surges, a commercialized student assessment system designed to support hundreds of thousands of students, and demanding industrial compliance and material traceability systems that were also commercialized.
    • Public Sector Governance, Security & Privacy Leadership: Risk management and data stewardship informed by direct public service. Past leadership includes building sector-wide capacity for technology governance in K-12 education—authoring maturity models for IT Governance, Information Security, and ITSM, as well as provincial Cloud Privacy and Disaster Recovery Toolkits for public institutions.

    Operating Philosophy

Academic Intelligence operates as a specialized, high-assurance software lab focused on challenges in the Canadian higher education sector. This focus informs our entire philosophy.

    • Solve the upstream problem: tools and automation fail to deliver lasting value to organizations when they address symptoms, while leaving upstream problems to fester. We focus on using technology to solve problems at the source.
    • Build to adapt: We build systems to last, which means they must adapt to change. Architectures prioritize long-term stability, open standards, and zero vendor lock-in. Solutions are designed to be extended to other use cases.
    • Do what is right, not what is easy: Increasingly, platforms are being developed that rely on multiple third-party tools to deliver a complete solution. This increases third-party processing risk. Despite their convenience, we minimize use of third party tools. Every data boundary, encryption standard, and sub-processor is deliberately chosen to satisfy Canadian privacy benchmarks, institutional risk assessments, and public-sector procurement standards from day one.
    • Trust is earned over the entire journey: Too often, customer support erodes before the ink dries on the contract. We believe that trust must be built and earned through transparency, reasonable and predictable pricing, and fair contract terms - before, during, and after the contract term.
